Dunmanway
Dunmanway is the heart of the West Cork region. This region is internationally famed for its beautiful scenery and terrain as well as its cuisine and hospitality. The town itself is surrounded by picturesque mountains, ideal for hillwalking, to the north, south and west. Hence it has often been called "Gateway to the Mountains".

Dunmanway's rich history has left it with many legacies and with numerous fine, historic buildings, many of which are now still in use or being restored, for example the "Model School" which has served the community since 1848. Another notable feature of Dunmanway are its public houses, numbering 23, no less! These cater for all tastes providing entertainment ranging from traditional music and ballad session to disco. Several are noted for their traditional style of decor.

Few other towns can boast of having a lake situated only a few hundred metres from the town centre. Dunmanway lake is suitably sized for cannooing, fishing and other sports. At the lakeside is a garden and picnic area for public use. More information
